Caswell Presbyterian Church

 Caswell History in Brief

Before 1789 Caswell Presbyterian Church began as part of Moore’s Creek Church (operating as a free church) and was first located on Widow Moore’s Creek. When the church burned, it was moved to a location believed to be near Moore’s Creek crossing (now Highway 53). In 1858 Fayetteville Presbytery organized the existing church as Moore’s Creek Presbyterian Church. In 1870 the congregation moved to Point Caswell (a riverboat landing). When that church burned, the congregation rebuilt on the old Fayetteville Rd. (Slocum Trail). In 1909 a lot was purchased in the town of Atkinson (which was on the railroad line) and services began in the present church. In 1914
